The fourth annual CUB Policy Conference, Changing Climate: Adapting to New Regulations, is just one week away! The CUB office has been in a flurry as we brush up on panel topics, wrap up the registration process, and prepare materials. There is still time to register, but the event is almost sold out, so Register Today in order to guarantee your attendance!
We have some exciting updates to share on the agenda. Oregon Public Utility Commissioner John Savage‘s morning presentation, from 8:30-9am, titled Utility Regulation in an Era of Climate Change, will discuss climate change science and how Oregon has developed policies to respond to climate change. Mr. Savage will address emerging uncertainties such as what authority the PUC has to address climate change, how carbon risk is treated in utility planning, and more.
We are also pleased to announce the title of our midday keynote, which will be presented from 11:15-11:45am by Philip W. Mote, Director of the Oregon Climate Change Research Institute and a Professor in the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences, Oregon State University. Dr. Mote will be presenting the Latest Developments in Climate Science, synthesizing the results of major assessment reports that have been released in the past year by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the US National Climate Assessment, and (for the Northwest) the Oregon Climate Change Research Institute.
Curious about the afternoon breakout session content? Well you’re in luck! In case you have not been following our blog over the past several weeks, CUB has issued a series of preview articles introducing each of our four breakout panel topics. You can view them at the links below!
