Energy
CUB’s energy program is our largest area of advocacy work. Energy utilities—electricity and natural gas—are critical services that we all rely on in our homes.
CUB works to ensure that all people in Oregon have access to reliable and affordable energy services that enable healthy and comfortable living and working spaces.
Energy Policy
Our energy programs primarily focus on the policy level. CUB advocates for strong consumer protection at the state legislature, in front of state utility regulators, and in collaboration with other policymakers.
Some examples of our work include:
- Advocating for new laws in the Oregon legislature
- Fighting bill increases in front of state regulators
- Supporting local policies that advance a just energy transition
Consumer Education
CUB also seeks to demystify utilities for Oregon households. We know that utilities can be confusing and policy conversations are steeped in jargon. Our team is here to help. We regularly put out explainers on utility basics and issues that affect your utility bills. We also host and attend events for the community to talk to people in Oregon about utility issues that matter to you!
Energy Policy Conference
Each year, CUB hosts the CUB Energy Policy Conference. This conference is designed as a day of discussion, networking, and sharing diverse perspectives. This event is ideal for community groups, regulators, advocates, utility representatives, attorneys, or those interested in our region’s energy industry. This annual event is held each October in Portland, Oregon.
