The 27th annual neighborhood Fix-it-Fair season kicks off on November 23rd, 2013 at Parkrose High School, 12003 NE Shaver St, and we hope you’ll join us there! Fix-It Fairs are free community events where you can learn simple and effective ways to save money at home and stay healthy this winter and beyond.
The Fix-It Fair offers an extensive class schedule with hour-long instructional workshops taking place all day. Experts will be available to talk with you about water and energy savings, personal health and healthcare, food and nutrition, community resources, recycling and yard care, lead testing, and more! Additionally, the Fix-It Fair offers free lunch, free blood-lead testing, free childcare, and minor bike tune-ups and flat tire repair for students and families.
You will also have the opportunity to visit with a variety of exhibitors and learn about their services. CUB will be tabling at the fair, along with dozens of other organizations including our friends from Energy Trust of Oregon, Solar Oregon, Portland Fruit Tree Project, and the Oregon Department of Energy. At the CUB table, you can find CUB’s outreach materials related to CUB Connects and Electric Vehicles (EVs), two projects that really showcase the breadth of our work here at the CUB Policy Center. If you’re at the fair, make sure to drop by the table and say “Hi”!
