CUB wants to hear from you! We need your help to advocate effectively for Portlanders in making sure that the Utility Oversight Blue Ribbon Commission makes the strongest possible recommendations to the City Council to improve oversight and transparency in setting policy and rates for stormwater, sewer, and water services.

Why: CUB wants your input on draft recommendations from the Portland Public Utility Oversight Blue Ribbon Commission

CUB’s Consumer Advocate, Janice Thompson, is on the Blue Ribbon Commission and is pushing hard for strong recommendations. One of her biggest priorities is to create an oversight board with real clout and a comprehensive charge, capable of providing significant input on policy priorities, major construction projects, budgets, and rates of the Bureau of Environmental Services and Portland Water Bureau. CUB is also advocating for stronger conflict of interest regulations, in order to ensure that the City Council really pays attention to this new oversight board.
Now, we need your input and advocacy on recommendations from the Blue Ribbon Commission. Janice is a leading voice on the Commission for strong input to the City Council, but as this group’s work enters its final stages, now is the critical time to get reinforcement from Portlanders like you.
After a short presentation, there will be time for questions and strategizing on how to send your opinions to the Blue Ribbon Commission.
