Today is CUB’s Birthday - 25 Years and Counting!

What were you doing 25 years ago today? For a lot of CUB campaigners, November 6, 1984 was a busy day with a last big push to get voters to the polls to vote YES on Ballot Measure #3, the citizen intiative to create the CItizens’ Utility Board of Oregon (and don’t forget, this was before vote-by-mail). After the ballots were counted, the voters of Oregon approved BM# 3 and brought CUB into existence. In those 25 years, we have taken the trust that Oregon voters showed that Election Day seriously and have sought to represent residential ratepayers well. In that time, we have saved ratepayers over $4.2 billion.

As we look towards the next 25 years, we know that CUB’s work is far from done. In one week, we are throwing ourselves a party to celebrate our history and start to plan for the future. Please join us on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at in the Pavilion Ballroom of the Portland Hilton. It will be an exciting event celebrating 25 years of protecting both the ratepayers and the environment and looking ahead to the next 25 years. You can fill out and send in a reply card or RSVP online.
