CUB is delighted to introduce its newest Staff member Attorney Ray Myers. Ray, born and raised in Portland Oregon, is the oldest of five siblings and graduated from Jesuit High in 1965 and the University of Oregon in 1969. Attracted to public service—you’ll see that as a theme in this bio—Ray became an elementary school teacher and operated a group home for troubled teenagers.
Bitten by the law bug, Ray then attended Lewis and Clark Law School from which he graduated in 1980. Upon graduation Ray served as Law Clerk to US Magistrate Judge George Juba before entering private practice as a workers’ compensation and social security attorney. Ray spent the next spent ten years at the Oregon Workers’ Compensation Board as a Staff Attorney, Referee (Administrative Law Judge) and Board Member and followed that up with seven years at SAIF Corporation as Trial Attorney and Managing Attorney.
He then spent three years at Oregon DOJ representing state licensing agencies and six years working in private practice representing employers in workers’ compensation matters and acting as a contract hearing officer for Secretary of State. Married with two children, Ray’s hobbies are hiking and drawing. CUB is delighted to have lured Ray out of retirement—great attorneys never really retire—and into the land of energy law. Ray brings a wealth of administrative law and litigation experience to CUB and we are delighted to have him aboard. Welcome Ray!
