Lisa Wilson is the inaugural Water and Wastewater Intern for the summer of 2014. I am pleased that Lisa has joined CUB’s efforts analyzing programs, budgets, and rates of Portland’s public utilities, the Portland Water Bureau and the Bureau of Environmental Services. CUB’s work in this arena began after an agreement with the Portland City Council was signed in January 2014 that designated CUB as a residential rate payer advocate for customers of water, sewer, and stormwater management services.
Initial testimony to the Portland City Council in May mapped out several topics for more detailed examination by CUB. Interns have long been helpful partners at CUB and this tradition is continuing in the Water and Wastewater program with our first intern, Lisa Wilson.
Lisa is jumping right in to helping evaluate the effectiveness of several stormwater management programs. An Oregon native, Lisa will be wrapping up her B.A. in History with minors in Environmental Studies and Economics next year at the University of Oregon. After that Lisa will be applying to the Master of Public Policy program at Oregon State University with a focus on energy and environmental policy. Her work for CUB this summer should help with her next steps, and we are happy to have her aboard. Welcome Lisa!
