CUB Welcomes New Development Associate Samuel Pastrick!

As we have mentioned in past articles, CUB has been undergoing an organizational restructure. Part of that restructure was the creation of a Development and Communications Department (we like to call ourselves the Dev/Com Team) of which I am the Director. Amelia Lamb, previously our Development Associate, is now the Communications & Marketing Associate and we have hired Samuel Pastrick, who joined us on July 7th as CUB’s new Development Associate.

Although originally from Brooklyn, NY, Samuel (Sam) Pastrick hails from New England; growing up near Boston, spending summers in Maine, and later attending college at the University of Maine. Sam graduated in 2009 with a BS in Environmental Management & Policy and in the spring of 2010 – with little else but his trusted road bike and a trunk full of Carter-era camping gear – he made the cross-country move to the Pacific Northwest.

Landing first with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington, Sam designed and implemented teen-specific volunteer and college preparatory initiatives. From there, he joined the Portland-based nonprofit Community Energy Project (CEP) as the organization’s first-ever Development staffer. After three successful years with CEP, Sam joins CUB in a similar capacity where he is excited to apply his passions for writing, social justice, and environmental stewardship.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Sam enjoys most any physical activity, especially those involving the great outdoors or throwing objects (baseballs, apples, rocks, etc.) hard and far. When not running, biking, or trekking through densely-wooded or mountainous areas, he can be found enjoying the company of friends and family, reading, writing, and not catching fish. And, whenever possible, he makes every effort to get back to his beloved mid-coast Maine.

We are excited to have Samuel join us on the Dev/Com Team. A team that is now complete! So, stay tuned to see how we work with our great Board Development Committee to raise funds, friends, and our organizational profile.
