New LNG Video Features CUB Commentary

For the past couple of years I have actively researched the issue of LNG (Liquid Natural Gas) being transported through terminals in Oregon. I’ve written about the issue here a few times, at first opposing importing more expensive gas from overseas, and more recently opposing plans to build export terminals. I have also represented CUB on an informal group of conservation and consumer organizations called Conservation LNG. Our friends at Rogue Riverkeeper have provided most of the thrust behind Conservation LNG, filing comments in opposition to LNG export terminals in the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s review process. They have also provided most of the funding for the production of a short film that documents the potential impacts a new pipeline and export terminal could have on the Rogue River watershed and on citizens across Oregon. I am proud to have provided comment on the economic impacts of the project for the video. You can watch the film below—it’s only six minutes long and has some great information on the costs and dangers of LNG export.
