CUB is pleased to announce that registration is now open for our fourth annual policy conference, Changing Climate: Adapting to New Regulations, taking place on Friday October 24th, 8:30am-5:30pm. We are thrilled to be partnering once again with the University of Oregon School of Law to host this full day of discussion, networking, and collaboration at the White Stag Block in Portland’s old town district, at 70 NW Couch St., Portland OR 97209.
Sold-out every year since its founding in 2011, the CUB Policy Conference brings together the foremost thought leaders in the Pacific Northwest and is specifically designed to engage and educate utility analysts, policy analysts, attorneys, community stakeholders, and other professionals throughout the energy industry.
Past conferences have touched on timely topics facing the energy sector such as The Smart Grid and The Flexibility Challenge. This year, we will turn our attention to the Changing Climate exploring the challenges and opportunities facing utilities in the Pacific NW as federal law introduces new regulations to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. We will investigate this emerging theme with a morning presentation by Oregon Public Utility Commissioner John Savage, keynote presentations by CUB Executive Director Bob Jenks and Oregon Climate Change Research Institute Director Dr. Philip Mote, and the following panels:
• A Climate of Change: Opportunities for Utility Leadership
• SB 844: Utility Projects to Mitigate Greenhouse Gas Emissions
• Confronting Carbon: Baseload Fossil Fuels vs. Renewables
• 111(d): EPA’s Proposed Rule for Existing Coal Plants
• The Appropriate Role of Natural Gas in a Carbon Constrained World
• Least Cost/Least Risk/Least Carbon
Once again, we anticipate offering CLE and BPI credits for OR, WA, CA, ID and MT. This conference has traditionally sold out prior to the event, so please register early to guarantee your attendance. We will keep you updated in the coming months as the conference takes shape.
Please join us as we tackle the issues surrounding climate change and the regulations that aim to help us adapt to that change and meet the energy needs of the 21st century. We’re looking forward to working together with you to build energy policymaking momentum and consensus. Register today!
