Welcome CUB Membership Organizer Charlotte Shuff

On April 2, 2020, CUB was pleased to welcome the newest member of our staff, Charlotte Shuff! Charlotte is CUB’s Membership Organizer. In this newly created position, Charlotte will be finding creative ways to expand and deepen organizational outreach efforts, and will take the lead on planning grassroots campaigns as well as managing CUB’s constituent relations database. Charlotte joins Advocacy and Development Manager Samuel Pastrick, Deputy Director Janice Thompson, and myself to round out CUB’s Outreach Team.
Charlotte has a background in renewable energy, advocacy for environmental justice, and community education. Prior to joining CUB, Charlotte worked for the Community Energy Project teaching do-it-yourself weatherization around the Portland area. Before joining CEP, Charlotte worked in voter/member mobilization and fundraising for public interest groups such as Common Cause, Environment America, and OSPIRG. She came to the energy world through renewable energy, including doing project management for a solar developer, and currently sits on the board of Solar Oregon.
Charlotte graduated from Lewis & Clark College with a BA in Sociology & Anthropology with a focus on civic engagement and the public sector. When not at work, she can be found teaching herself new crafts or playing chess at coffee shops around town.
When asked her thoughts on jumping into her new role, Charlotte responded: “After starting my career with public interest organizations, I’m excited to finally be back at an organization advocating for Oregonians. I look forward to getting out into the public to talk to communities about the great work CUB does to protect Oregonians’ access to utilities.”
This period of time, while much of our society is shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is certainly not an easy one in which to start a new job. But like the rest of the CUB staff, Charlotte is working remotely and has dived in feet first with great gusto. We are grateful and excited to have her on board. Join us in welcoming Charlotte!
