Small Pacific Power Rate Increase Starts April 1

Light bulb in front of a graph with an increasing trend line

Pacific Power rates are increasing by 0.9% for residential customers on April 1, 2023. The average household will experience a $1.04 dollar increase on their utility bill.

Spring Increase to Reduce Winter Bill Impacts

Last year, Pacific Power won a rate increase for residential customers. Part of this increase went into effect January 1, 2023.

Oregon households tend to use more energy during cold weather. To reduce the bill impact for households, CUB advocated for staggering the collection of historic costs during the winter heating season.

What is Included in This Increase?

Over the past year, wholesale electricity prices and natural gas prices have increased significantly.  In addition, Pacific Power raised rates to cover large costs from the past few years.

The major cost included in the April 1, 2023 rate increase are:

  • the historic costs of the COVID-19 emergency for Pacific Power in Oregon
  • the historic costs of two new Pacific Power wind facilities
  • the historic costs of Pacific Power’s electric transportation program

Bill Discount Available for Income-Qualified Households

If you are having trouble paying your utility bill, Pacific Power offers income-qualified households a bill discount program. Depending on your income, you can receive a discount on your monthly gas bills. A family of 4 making under $60,126 qualifies. Learn more on Pacific Power’s website.
