New Year and New Faces!

Under CUB’s founding statute, a full Board of Governors includes three CUB members representing each of Oregon’s five Congressional Districts. Board members must live in the district they represent and are elected by other CUB members who also live in that district. Over the years, the number of Board members has fluctuated and it has been a few years since it has reached capacity. However, thanks to a very active nominations and elections committee, as we head into 2018 we have 12 of the 15 members in place! So it is with great pleasure that we introduce you to our three newest members - one who was recently elected, and two who have been appointed to fulfill vacant seats.

Rory Isbell, District 2 – Seat Two: Appointed October 2017
Rory comes from Bend and represents members who live in Congressional District 2. A Staff Attorney with a JD in Environmental and Natural Resource Law and a Masters in Regional and Community Planning, Rory specializes in land use law as well as transportation planning and local land use advocacy for Central Oregon Land Watch. We look forward to Rory bringing his insights to CUB’s work on the impact of EVs on the grid and how transportation planning can impact greenhouse gas emissions.

Saul Chavez Hernandez, District 3 – Seat Two: Elected October 2017 for 2018 – 2021 term
Saul resides in Hillsboro and represents members in Congressional District 3. He has worked in the non-profit social service sector for more than 12 years, ten of which have been at Community Action Organization (CAO) of Washington County where he has been a Housing Specialist and is presently a Program Supervisor in Energy Assistance. We look forward to the insights Saul’s long time social service and advocacy background will provide as to how CUB can advocate on behalf of low and fixed income Oregonians.

Hector Dominguez, District 1, Seat Two: Appointed January 2018
Hector hails from SE Portland and represents members in Congressional District 1. With a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering and 20 years of experience developing industrial and research projects in manufacturing, sensor networks and data analysis, Hector brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the board table. His professional background and his strong interest in how Robotics, Sustainable Manufacturing, and Smart Machines might impact the energy industry will be a valuable asset.

We are excited to have Hector, Saul, and Rory add their energy to our talented group of amazing CUB board members and look forward to the possibility of adding the final three members in the near future. If you live in District 2 or District 5 we would love to have you consider becoming a CUB board member.
