May Your Blessings Be Too Many to Count

It is a wonderful thing that in our country we stop on the fourth Thursday in November to be grateful. It has always struck me that a national day of Thanksgiving shows great wisdom. How prudent to have a day for proclaiming an attitude of gratitude. So, though it has been a long and contentious year, I thought that on this Thanksgiving Day I would share with you a few of my many blessings.
I am grateful for my wonderful immediate and extended family, and the many friends who love me enough to accept me as I am - but still call me on my “stuff”. I am thankful to have a job that not only pays the bills, but one that I love, and where I get to make a difference every day. I really appreciate my colleagues both in the office and across the energy, fundraising, and communications industries with whom I collaborate, negotiate, and create; they bring richness to my work that is truly rewarding.
And on top of that, I get to be a CUB member AND be a representative of CUB members as I write about our work, ask for financial support, and go out into the community to talk about what we do. Working to protect my own pocketbook and values while also protecting yours is like frosting on a sugar cookie. Yep, I am pretty blessed.
So, along with our Executive Director Bob Jenks, the CUB Board, and our amazing CUB staff, I want to wish you a very thankful holiday weekend. Regardless of how you celebrate, I hope you find much for which to be grateful.
