Looking For A Few Good Oregonians!

As the newly elected CUB/CPC Board Chair, I invite you to apply to join the CUB/CPC Board of Governors. We are looking for people with diverse backgrounds and skills, for example: legal, accounting, environmental science, fundraising, broadband, computer science, and marketing expertise. I have been on the board for a couple of years since I retired from my regional energy law practice and find it a solid way to give back to the community. We are all ratepayers whose interests would not be heard but for CUB’s voice before the decision makers.

The CUB board is required by law to be structured with three CUB members from each of Oregon’s five Congressional Districts. Presently there are a number of positions vacant, especially in the western, eastern, and southern parts of Oregon. Now that I am the Board Chair, I want to help fulfill CUB’s mission of representing all Oregonians by seeing these vacancies filled.

There are presently seven openings on our board with the following positions available:
• one seat in District 1 (currently represented by Suzanne Bonamici);
• three seats in District 2 (currently represented by Greg Walden);
• two seats in District 4 (currently represented by Peter DiFazio); and,
• two seats in District 5 (currently represented by Kurt Schrader).

Board members must live in the district to which they are appointed, may not be an elected official or running for elected office, and may not work for or own more than $3,000 in the stock of an investor-owned utility in Oregon.

At present, our board meets eight times a year on the second Monday evening of the month. You can attend meetings in person or via conference call. For complete information on becoming a board member, go to https://oregoncub.org/about/board or contact Pamela White, Development and Communications Director at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or (503)227-1984 x10. Applications are due by end-of-day June 30, 2016.

I look forward to all the possibilities 2016 will bring, but especially the possibility of working with you! Hope to meet you soon!
