Inaugural Anniversary Club Campaign a Big Success

CUB began 2015 by launching a year-long Anniversary Club fundraising campaign. Named in honor of our 30th year as Oregon’s primary advocate for residential utility customers, the Anniversary Club campaign reflects CUB’s ever-present need to build and sustain internal capacity. The truth is that stable and unrestricted funding allows CUB to keep pace with a complex and expensive regulatory and policy landscape.
Our fundraising goal for 2015 is to increase membership contributions by $30,000 by asking 300 CUB supporters to invest at the $100 level. The people who did so by April 30th joined the Anniversary Club as Inaugural Members. With the inaugural period having recently come to a close, I’m thrilled to report that 125 members contributed nearly $15,700 with an average gift of $124 per person! Many folks contributed at different amounts, making the first four months of 2015 an incredible financial success.
I want to thank all those who’ve contributed so far in 2015 – but especially the Inaugural Anniversary Club Members who made contributions at or above the $100 level. To celebrate this generous group, we’re holding a gathering on June 25th at the Widmer Brothers Gasthaus Pub. I’ll be on hand that evening, along with other CUB staff, to offer updates on CUB’s recent regulatory and legislative efforts.
The equation is simple: Strength in membership equals strength in representation for Oregon’s residential utility customers. And more than 30 years after Oregonians voted to create the Citizens’ Utility Board, CUB is still sustained by our ratepayer-members. It still holds true that when people join together to pool their resources, powerful monopolies like private utilities are more effectively kept in check.
There’s still plenty of time to become a part of the Anniversary Club. We have roughly $15,000 left to raise to reach our goal, with just under eight months to go. Please join now and you will be honored along with all our 2015 Anniversary Club members at our second Anniversary Club gathering early in 2016! Stay tuned for more details, and visits the Anniversary Club home page to join today!
