Goodbye Stephanie, Hello Heather!

It’s been a busy outreach season for the CUB Policy Center (CPC)! Since the spring, I’ve tabled at more than a dozen street fairs and other community events, and talked to hundreds of people about the CPC’s programs, electric vehicles, transitioning away from coal, and how we can work towards a clean energy future for Oregon. The outreach season was eventful and certainly varied— from the rainy charging station openings in March to 90+ degree weather at the Alberta Street Fair. The CPC is excited to be reestablishing its grassroots approach to engaging the community, which harkens back to our early days and the dozens of volunteers that worked hard to establish our organization.

With the beginning of fall, we are coming to another transition, as I will be passing my responsibilities on to the CPC’s next AmeriCorps member, Heather Kendall. It’s been a great experience serving with CUB, and I’m leaving my program in good hands! Here’s a little bit that Heather wrote about herself:

I come to the CUB Policy Center from Ashland, Oregon, where I just graduated from Southern Oregon University (SOU). At SOU, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies, Policy, and Sustainability/Sustainable Communities. In my three years at SOU, I was involved with an environmental student organization called the Ecology and Sustainability Resource Center (ECOS). With ECOS, I worked on events and projects that connected SOU and the greater Ashland community to information regarding our collective environmental impact. I am looking forward to applying my knowledge and skills in assisting the CPC in its effort to engage the community with important information pertaining to clean energy, electric vehicles, and transitioning from coal. I am passionate about empowering our communities with information that will help them make decisions about the future of our fragile planet.

On a personal note, I am looking forward to exploring my new city of Portland and embracing all of the exciting things that it has to offer. As a bit of a beer nut, I am eager to sample the city’s and region’s plethora of brews as well as the delicious and varied cuisine.
