Goodbye Liz!

It is always hard to say “goodbye” to members of our staff who move on to other places. This time, however, we can’t help but celebrate the great opportunity Liz Jones and her family have as they move to Germany next month. Liz’s husband has taken a three-year assignment, which as part of the package includes international school for their kids, and a chance to explore Europe from their new home in Munich. Liz is not sure what direction she will take professionally, however she is very excited to learn German as part of the process of figuring out what is next.

Liz joined CUB as staff attorney in September 2016. Prior to joining CUB, she was an Assistant Attorney General at the Minnesota Attorney General’s (AG) office where she represented the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission in a wide variety of energy and telecommunications dockets. Liz also worked in tort and employment law with the AG’s office and clerked for a District Court Judge after graduating from Hamline University School of Law.

Since joining CUB, Liz has worked on PGE’s Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) and rate case, the Public Utility Commission’s rulemaking dockets on the Resource Value of Solar and Community Solar, and telecommunications price plans that attempt to further deregulate local telecommunications services. Liz represented CUB on the board of Renewable Northwest and was a member of the Energy Trust’s Conservation Advisory Council.

Liz and her family have spent the past two years attempting to camp, hike, ski, and swim in every corner of the Pacific Northwest, and she says that everyone will really miss Oregon. That being said, they are all very excited to begin this new adventure that is sure to include lots of these same activities throughout Europe.

The CUB staff and board appreciate Liz’s impactful contributions to our work. We will miss Liz’s curious and insightful nature, strong work ethic, and perpetually positive outlook, all of which made working with her a true pleasure. Auf wiedersehen Liz - you will be missed!
