Last week we said a fond farewell to our Spring Legal Extern Erica Nist-Lund. Erica joined us in January to support our busy regulatory staff and ended her work with us last week in order to prepare for finals and graduation in a few weeks.
Hailing from Fort Meyers Beach, Florida, Erica attended the University of Pennsylvania where she graduated in 2011, with degrees in both Anthropology and Sociology. From there, she headed to Cincinnati, Ohio to campaign for President Obama and Greenpeace. Her next stop was Lewis and Clark Law School here in Portland, where she will graduate with concentrations in Environmental and Natural Resources and Pro Bono Law in May. After traversing the country, Erica plans to stay in the area after graduation and will continue working on energy regulation while studying for the July Oregon Bar Exam.
“I have learned more about utility regulation than ever possible in class,” Erica says of her time with CUB. “And it has reaffirmed, for me, the importance of solid utility monitoring and regulation.”
We at CUB appreciate Erica’s willingness to attend PUC hearings, research utility law, learn about Oregon legislative process and history, and to jump right in and do whatever she could to support the process. Congrats, Erica, on your upcoming graduation and best wishes as you pursue a career in energy law.
