CUB Bids Farewell to Law Clerk Gabe Walsh

Every year the CUB Policy Center provides opportunities for law clerkships in the areas of Energy and Telecommunications. Our most recent Law Clerk, Gabriel (“Gabe”) Walsh, worked on several of CUB’s big cases this summer, including general rate cases and several policy dockets. Gabe proved to be a strong researcher, and contributed substantially to projects including the legislative history for energy efficiency, utility capital structure, and federal universal service fund.

Gabe, who is a third year law student at Willamette University, grew up in Forest Grove and has a long work history with broadband cable companies including Comcast and Charter. His experience with those companies helped him to understand some of the intricacies of utility issues, however, “I never imagined just how complex utility ratemaking could be,” said Gabe.

Gabe is currently clerking for a general practice law firm in Salem. He anticipates pursuing general practice opportunities immediately after law school, as that appears to be where the jobs are. However, said Gabe, “I continue to be interested in energy & utility law, and welcome opportunities to gain experience within that field of law.”

Gabe told us that working for CUB was an excellent experience, and we would like to return the complement. With his strong skills and enthusiasm for our work, Gabe was a great addition to the summer team!  Here is hoping you have a great last year of law school, Gabe, we wish you well in all your plans for the future.
