CUB Welcomes Summer Law Clerk Alyssa Forest

It is our pleasure to welcome Alyssa Forest to the CUB team as our Summer 2023 Law Clerk. Alyssa will be assisting CUB staff with legal research, writing, and other organizational matters. The work of CUB’s law clerks is invaluable to helping our team through the busy regulatory season each summer. This year is no different, as both Portland General Electric and Avista have ongoing general rate cases, in addition to a long list of other regulatory proceedings.
Alyssa grew up in Sacramento, California, then moved to Oregon for college. She graduated with a B.S. in Natural Resource Law and Policy from Oregon State University in 2018. After moving to Portland, Alyssa worked as a claims adjuster for a few years. This experience, along with the COVID pandemic, helped Alyssa decide to go to law school to pursue her passion for climate justice.
Alyssa is a rising third-year law student at Lewis & Clark Law School, where she is pursuing a diverse legal education. Alyssa also works at the PCC CLEAR Clinic, where she works to keep people housed by defending tenants in eviction proceedings. She is passionate about strengthening communities. This has led her to pursue an externship in housing justice, and now to CUB. She is excited to continue advocating for Oregon residents through CUB’s work in affordable utilities and cleaner energy.
In her free time, Alyssa loves spending quality time with her family and friends (and cat), painting, enjoying the outdoors, and cooking.
