CUB Welcomes New Summer Law Clerk Ashley Hollis

It is our pleasure to welcome Ashley Hollis to the CUB team as our Summer 2022 law clerk. Ashley will be assisting CUB staff with legal research, writing, and other organizational matters. The work of CUB’s law clerks is invaluable to helping our team through the busy regulatory season each summer. This year is no different, as both NW Natural and Pacific Power have ongoing general rate cases in addition to a long list of other regulatory proceedings.
Ashley grew up in Springfield Missouri and graduated from the University of Missouri with a B.S. in Environmental Science in 2019. Throughout college, Ashley volunteered for the Conservation Federation of Missouri, a conservation nonprofit. In this new capacity with CUB, she is thrilled to once again be working for the public interest!
Ashley is currently a rising second-year law student at Lewis & Clark Law School where she is pursuing a certificate in Environmental Law. She is passionate about climate action, clean energy, and keeping utility services affordable. The current environment of high inflation makes CUB’s mission more essential than ever. She is excited to work with CUB this summer to fight for cleaner energy and more affordable utilities for Oregonians.
Ashley is interested in energy law and looks forward to familiarizing herself with some of the intricacies of this field in the coming months. In her free time, she enjoys taking care of her bonsai trees, biking, and cooking weekend project meals.
In a competitive hiring process, Ashley emerged as a strong candidate due to her background in legal research and technical writing. Ashley took a substantial role in authoring a law review article related to the Clean Water Act during her undergraduate coursework. Her attention to detail, skillset, and passion for public interest work will make her an asset to the CUB team.
