CUB Welcomes Economist, Will Gehrke

If you are reading this blog you probably know that CUB’s work involves analyzing utility rate increases and resource plans, as well as other complicated economic work. So it was with great excitement that CUB welcomed our new Economist, Will Gehrke on August 22. He had been scheduled to start on Monday the 21st but had to start on Tuesday because the entire staff was traveling or telecommuting due to the Solar Eclipse.

So, despite the dark start (bad pun intended) Will’s skills and expertise are now lighting up CUB’s testimony and analyses. And, with the true pioneer spirit of his adopted State, Will has agreed to become CUB’s on-site IT troubleshooter. He also jumped right in to plan for and moderate a panel called “Energy Yoga: How Do We Make The Grid More Flexible” at the 7th Annual CUB Policy Conference – Utility Regulation 2.0: Empowering What’s Possible on October 13.

Will grew up in Miami, Florida on a tropical plant nursery, and comes to CUB with a Master’s degree in Applied Economics from Florida State University. Just prior to joining CUB, he worked as an Economist at the Florida Department of Revenue and previously was a Public Utility Analyst at the Florida Public Service Commission.

In his spare time, Will enjoys gardening, camping, and backpacking. In fact, Will has hiked a significant portion of the Appalachian Trail and is now planning, in his off time, to tackle the Pacific Crest Trail. If that does not make him a good Oregonian, then the fact that he commutes to work via bicycle allows him to fit right in!

Welcome Will! CUB is excited to have you on board!
