CUB Communications manager, Amelia Lamb, is leaving CUB to pursue other opportunities. Amelia has been with CUB since 2013. As Communications Manager, Amelia maintained our website and social media channels, edited our newsletter and blog, managed logistics and marketing for the annual CUB Policy Conference, drafted news releases, and oversaw the CUB brand and production of marketing materials.
Most importantly, Amelia took the work of CUB and translates it into readable, understandable language. Utility regulation is heavily involved in economics, engineering, and law. We have hired staff with expertise in these areas and their work is often technical and full of jargon. Amelia’s expertise is making this work accessible to Oregonians. She has worked tirelessly to ensure that CUB’s communication channels are filled with content that is interesting, understandable, and accurate. Without her, CUB’s work would be much more obscure and hidden from most members of the public.
Amelia was a key organizer of CUB’s annual Policy Conference since 2013. During this time, we have seen the audience for the Conference grow as the Conference has become an important part of the energy policy dialog. After COVID-19 became a pandemic, Amelia led the efforts to move the Conference from a downtown hotel to an online gathering. And this year, she led our efforts to reestablish it as an in-person event.
The best way to understand Amelia’s impact is to consider CUB communications before she came to work for us. Our newsletter and blogs were filled with technical information and were difficult to understand. The design of our website and communications channels were clunky, difficult to navigate, and unappealing. Our presence on social media was practically non-existent. Amelia dug in and systematically redesigned all our communications. This has made us a more effective organization.
After nearly 10 years here, it is difficult to say goodbye. Amelia’s talents have infused the organization and will be sorely missed. CUB is in a better place because of her time with us.
On behalf of CUB, let me say “Thank You, Amelia.” You have done outstanding work. We recognize and appreciate it. We honor what you have done for us.
And let us wish you GOOD LUCK in your future endeavors, which undoubtedly will be successful.
