CUB Launches Oregon Utility Customer Survey

Because of our role as Oregon’s professional advocate for residential utility customers, we want to know what folks think about a range of energy issues. The more we understand about the experience of customers, the better equipped we are to advocate on their behalf.

We decided that the most effective way to learn more was to develop a Survey. You can take it electronically HERE or find a PDF version to print and mail in HERE (for those of you on our mailing list, you’ll find an insert with your August Newsletter.)

One big reason we wanted to dig deeper into the customer experience this summer was born out of planning for this year’s CUB Policy Conference – The Future Starts Now on October 14 in Portland. We came up with the idea to include a panel discussion about “what consumers want”.

Panelists will represent a diversity of stakeholder groups like the utilities, industrial customers, and low-income and energy efficiency agencies. In addition to hearing from them, it’s hugely important that we come prepared with information direct from the source.

Our survey results, we hope, will offer unique insight into what customers think about a variety of pressing topics like billing, energy resources, climate change, market forces, and the role of government regulation.

The survey goes live today – Friday, July 15 – with a modest goal of 1,000 responses (although we certainly hope to exceed that total!) And the plan is to get it into as many hands and across as many screens as possible before 5:00pm on Friday, September 30 – after which we’ll share the results online, at the Conference, and in our 2016 Annual Report.

We also hope that by sharing this information here, YOU the reader will encourage your friends, family, “followers”, and colleagues (who are Oregon utility customers) to take the survey. This could mean sharing on social media, sending a quick email, or even just taking the time to endorse the project when out in the world.

Remember, the greater the number of responses we receive, the greater the likelihood the results prove statistically significant, and the better we can serve the needs of residential utility customers in Oregon.

Happy surveying, and please .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) with questions or comments.
