It’s a Countdown! Three Weeks to #GivingTuesday

CUB is excited to be counting down to December 1, 2015. Why, do you ask? Because we are joining #OregoniansGive with more than 500 other nonprofits around the state as part of the international movement, #GivingTuesday.
There is a day for giving thanks, two days for getting deals, and now…a day specifically set aside for giving! #OregoniansGive on #GivingTuesday is a movement to get Oregonians excited about giving. As part of the celebration, we are asking Oregonians to give to CUB and we need your help.
What You Can Do!

Here is the truth about CUB:
• As the premier ratepayer advocate in Oregon, CUB fights for you at the Public Utility Commission (PUC) to ensure that investor-owned utilities* only raise their rates when necessary AND for legitimate reasons.
• We have saved Oregon ratepayers more than $6.7 billion since our founding in 1984. That is about $1700 dollars saved for every $1 donated.
• We created the first economic model, now used all over the country, showing that closing a modern baseload coal plant (such as PGE’s Boardman plant) is more cost-effective than investing in retrofits.
• We work with legislators and other advocates to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy options; we were instrumental in passing legislation that created Oregon’s renewable energy standard, and in the establishment of the Energy Trust of Oregon.
*(Utilities include: investor owned electric and/or natural gas, phone, and internet anywhere in the state of Oregon. In the City of Portland it also includes water & wastewater services.)
