Advisor to Governor Brown, to Share Updates at Utility Regulation 2.0

Life is full of change - some easy, some hard, some disappointing, and some delightful. I am relieved to say that in planning the CUB Policy Conference most of our changes fall much closer to delightful than disappointing. So with that being said, we are pleased to share with you a couple of last minute changes that we think are great!

First of all we are delighted to announce that Ruchi Sadhir – Energy Policy Advisor to Governor Kate Brown – will close the conference by sharing the latest information about Governor Brown’s work around clean energy to address climate change.

Ruchi also wants to chat with participants to get their ideas and stories relating to clean energy and climate change leadership in Oregon, so that Governor Brown can take this information with her when she participates in the UN Climate Change conference in Bonn, Germany next month. Don’t miss Ruchi in the Pavilion at 4:30(ish), immediately following PUC Chair Lisa Hardie, who will offer the closing keynote, “Looking Forward – The Regulatory Landscape”.

Utility Regulation 2.0: Empowering What’s Possible is about figuring out how to do energy differently in a world where technology is changing rapidly, carbon constraints are a reality, and the current configuration of the grid is quickly becoming obsolete. This paradigm shift is called different things in different places; for example in New York this movement is being referred to as Reforming the Energy Vision. In Minnesota it’s e21 Initiative, and in Ohio it is called Power Forward. So, like in all aspects of life, the change is coming.

On the day of the conference, we would like to invite you to participate in naming Oregon’s new utility reality by sharing your ideas on Twitter (using the hashtag #CUBCon17) or by filling out a suggestion card that will be available in the lobby. We will be sharing your ideas before and after breaks, and at lunch. Maybe your hashtag will become the next catchphrase for Oregon’s new utility future!

Here is the catch. In order to hear Ruchi, or Chair Hardie, or to join us in naming Oregon’s vision for what’s next in energy, you have to register for (and attend) the 7th CUB Policy Conference on October 13 at the downtown Portland Hilton. You can do that here – online ticket sales will be open through Tuesday October 10, so sign up before it’s too late to join in on the conversation!
