Featured Panel: Building People Power

Building a clean energy future will take more than big solar arrays, vast wind farms, and more efficient energy systems. We need to make big changes on the ground - in the spaces we live, work, and play. Transitioning our communities to clean, reliable energy requires understanding the needs of people—which means we need to look beyond just the energy industry for answers. This panel will bring together a diverse group of community leaders: environmental justice advocates, labor organizers, and more!

How are we constructing and adapting homes that work for the people who live in them and reduce energy use? Who is benefitting from the high-paying green jobs? What investments are we making in benefitting people, not just shareholders? How can we build a clean energy future that equitably meets the needs of Oregon communities?

This panel will be moderated by Jennifer Hill-Hart, CUB’s Policy Manager. Stay tuned for panelist announcements in the coming weeks!

2023 CUB Energy Policy Conference: Building(s) for an Equitable Energy Future

Friday, October 6, 2023
Left Bank Annex
101 N Weidler St, Portland, OR 97227

Building(s) for an Equitable Energy Future will explore how construction, energy systems, and local climate policies overlap. We will be diving into who is informing clean energy policies and the community impacts of these decisions. We will make connections between community advocates, the energy industry, the buildings industry, and policymakers. And we will bring in vital perspectives from communities on the front lines of climate change in the Pacific Northwest. Together, we can build an energy transition that works for all of us.
