Charity Fain has over 25 years of experience building stronger communities in the US and around the world. As the Executive Director of the Community Energy Project (CEP), Charity is responsible for the overall direction, leadership and management of the organization to fulfill CEP’s mission of partnering with low-income communities on the frontlines of climate change to create more resilient, efficient, and healthy homes.
In this effort, she designs programs that provide free home services focused on safety, health, and energy efficiency for low-income Oregonians as well as programs that provide clean, renewable solar energy. Charity also leads CEP’s advocacy efforts at the city and state level to push for climate and energy justice. Charity is a commissioner on the the City of Portland’s Sustainability and Climate Commission and a member of several state-wide committees helping to set Oregon energy policy and design rules for new programs. In addition, Charity speaks at conferences on energy justice, energy efficiency, CBO participation, and community engagement.
Prior to CEP, Charity’s professional experience focused on increasing civic engagement and political participation around the world. She has a BA in International Relations from The American University with a minor in Russian language.
